Stand Up Eight on iTunes5.23.07 - At last, you can now download all our songs from 'Facing the Fall' and 'Dance With Gravity' on iTunes. iPoderrific!Download our new studio track!10.30.06 - It's only been three years, but we finally got a new studio track up on the website, free to download in mp3 format:The tune: 'Letting Go,' a classic Josh Nadelberg hymn of love and loss in the tradition of 'Apple' and 'Letter Song,' and one of my favorite Josh songs ever. It's really a pleasure to finally release it for you to hear, and I hope you'll love it as much as I do. We recorded the basic parts for this song almost exactly three years ago, at Ex'pression Studio in Emeryville, CA with engineer Raf Zenteno. After languishing unfinished for a while, I (Mike) got ahold of the files and added some guitar and mandolin parts; Josh tracked some backing vocals, and finally Chris aka Spoony laid down his bassline, and we polished up the mix. We spent a long time tweaking the mix to compensate for the fact that, unlike our two previous albums, this is not a professional production. Also, there's no mastering, which means it'll be a little quieter than most of the tunes in your collection. But we're feeling pretty good about it. Savor the subtleties. Here are some of the specs on the track: Music and Lyrics by Josh Nadelberg Arranged by Josh, Mike, Spoons, and Tony Tracked by Raf Zenteno Mixed by Mike Roberts, Chris Webber, and Raf Zenteno Josh: Vocals and percussion Mike: 12-string acoustic guitar, electric guitars, mandolin Spoony: Bass Tony: Percussion Believe it or not, we're still planning on finishing another tune or two in the near future, so stay tuned, and thanks for your patience (those of you who hadn't forgotten entirely about this old project). Enjoy the song! Stand Up Eight Hits the Studio (Finally)1.28.04 - Yes indeed. On January 17th, we broke ground on the new recording project we've been blowing hot air about for...well, gee, it's been years now. We laid down basic tracks for seven new songs, plus live-in-the-studio takes of two more. Much work remains to be done, but so far we seem to be sprouting a fine, eclectic crop of tunes that aptly represent the California incarnation of Stand Up Eight. We get funky, we get folky, and then we rock the rock rock chickenrock (as Tony would say). But what's really exciting about this project is that it will be available to you, our loyal and patient fans, for ZERO dollars. Indeed--in this cybertronic age, we shall eschew the jurassic technology of the compact disc and offer you our musical progeny as free downloads through our website. You can pass them around, burn as many CD's as you want, post them on your personal blog, whatever--we promise the RIAA won't sue you. We're just really excited to share our new music with all of you. So, we will keep you posted as the songs find their way to this very website. |
